Le Cordon Bleu - Las Vegas, NV
COMPLAINT!

This complaint is directed to the Le Cordon Bleu location in Las Vegas, NV and not all Le Cordon Bleu campuses.

I tried to sign up with Le Cordon Bleu Culinary program. At the time, the program was only 9 months long and $19,500. I toured the school with an admissions representative and had all my funding in place. I qualified for the government grant of approximately $6,000, then I was going to pay the difference with a government loan.

I'm very disapponted that I never was never able to attend this school because Le Cordon Bleu would not allow me to attend.

The reason I was not able to attend was because the school wanted an additional $50 cash to pay for the application fee. I didn't have the money to pay the $50, as I qualified for the government for the school. The admissions representative(female named Tawny) insisted that I give her the $50 for the application fee. I asked for a waiver because I don't have $50, and I told her that if she will waive the $50 then I will sign up right now because I have all my funding in place. She said NO, the only waiver available is if you are Indian or married to a military. I didn't fall into either one of those categories.

I tried to resolve the $50 waiver, by calling and speaking to the campus President, Lachlan Sands and asking him to waive the $50. He said No because I don't qualify for the $50 fee waiver. I tried to explain to him that Le Cordon Bleu is going to get $20,000 if he would just waive the $50 application fee. He did not care. He was very cold hearted and mean. I wanted so much to attend Le Cordon Bleu, but Lachlan Sands made it impossible for me to attend.

Mr. Sands also refused to tell me how many students students I would be studying with in each class.

I asked Mr. Lachlan Sands what I would be learning. He said the law says he's not allowed to tell me what I'll learn or how many students are in each class, so he refused to tell me and refused to answer any questions. I rephrased my sentence and asked him "what will the program will teach me"?, instead of "what will I learn?" He still refused to tell me, repeating that the federal government won't allow him to tell me.

Getting information out of him was like pulling teeth. He said that federal law forbids him from giving information to students and all students have to go online and view the disclosures online. I asked him where online? He answered me by saying, "online." He wouldn't tell me. He refused to give me any information about the program. He made it impossible for me to sign up.

After speaking to Lachlan Sands, he made me not want to attend the program even if the $50 was waived. He said he's the Chef and one of the instructors of the program. I figured if he teaches his class the same as he speaks to prospective students, then he will just tell me to look up the answer in a cookbook and not teach the students.

I called back a few months later to give one more try at signing up. They still refused to waive the $50 application fee for indigent students and this time they cancelled the 9 month certificate program and they only offer the 21 month associate program. I was very very disappointed, as I really wanted to attend the 9 month course. I was told by the admissions rep that they raised the 9 month course to a 12 month course, but they no longer offer the 12 month course either.

Solution to the problem:
I feel this culinary program should only be a 9  months, and 21 months is way too long, and even the 12 month program was too long. 9 months is long enough.
I think, Lachlan Sands, the President of the school is a disgusting human being for treating indigent people bad. He should waive the $50 application fee for indigent students when the government pays their tuition.

I really wanted to attend Le Cordon Bleu. I've always wanted to go to cooking school ever since I was a little girl. Always.

Lachlan Sands is a disgusting human being and a bad person. He definitely doesn't believe in helping indigent students in need. He only believes in making his own wallet fatter with money. He destroyed a girl's hopes of attending culinary school over $50.00

  1. They don't have a 12 month cooking program. The 12 month program is for baking only.

Stache White — This place kind of just cons you into going. It is a nice school, but they dont help you with finding a job as much as they tell you they do upon signing up. It is accelerated program so you only spend one day or more like a couple hours on each subject which is crazy, so to learn as much as you want, you kind of have to do the research yourself anyways and practice at home. A lot of the instructors are rude and not helpful and put you down a lot, they seem grumpy 24/7 so it sort of takes the fun and passion out of it which is the worst part about the school. Sallie Mae is a HORRIBLE way to finance your college also. I would never recommend financing college with them. They are SO pushy and strict with payments even when you are not one to miss very many payments or be late and, to me, they have horrible human beings working for the company. I dont know how they sleep at night. For all these reasons, I suggest going to school somewhere else. The name of LCB you pay for to be on your resume is NOT worth it.

  3. I don't know if it's true or false, but I was told by a graduate that they don't teach basic knife skills because several students cut themselves because Le Cordon Bleu didn't teach them the correct way to hold a knife and slice and dice fruits and vegetable.

  4. If the instructors are really screaming and yelling at the students, then that is harassment and I suggest all the students get together and sue Le Cordon Blue as a class action lawsuit. And don't wait. Sue now! Yelling and screaming at students is against the law. It's called harassment, bullying, intentional infliction of emotional distress and mental abuse. Sue the bastards!

  5. Instructors yelling at the students is called bullying. It's a felony to bully people. We have bullying laws in Nevada. I suggest Le Cordon Bleu look into the instructor harassment/ bullying and stop it immediately.

  6. THIS IS A COMPLAINT!! I just received a call from Michael Burnside at Las Vegas Le Cordon Bleu, 702-851-5345. I called the number back and asked for Michael. A black man named James with very strong ghetto accent in admissions said Michael is not there. I told him that I just received a call from him 30 seconds ago so he must be there. James said in a ghetto accent. "YOUR CALLING LE CORDON BLEU". I told him that I know who I'm calling because I made the return call and I did not ask you who who I calling. James said I can talk to him about the call. I told him I would like to speak to Michael since he made the call to me and I wanted to see what he wanted. He said Michael was returning my call. I told him I didn't ask for a call back and I haven't called Le Cordon Bleu. Besides, how does he know what Michael was calling for? I asked James if Michael could possibly be calling me to tell me about an admissions promotion. James said NO in a strong ghetto accent. I asked James to speak to the manager. James then said I was rude and slammed the phone in my face. (HEY LE CORDON BLEU, YOU JUST LOST A STUDENT, AND I HOPE WHOEVER READS THIS SEES HOW UNPROFESSIONAL YOU ARE THEY DON'T SIGN UP. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR A BLACK MAN TO TREAT WHITE INQUIRING FEMALE STUDENTS LIKE CRAP)!. I HOPE YOU GO BANKRUPT!!

  10. I attended LCB in Las Vegas. I do have to say that the instructors were top notch but it's pointless to learn how to cut up a chicken 5 different ways by 5 different instructors or as many ways as to make a roux for heavies and sauces.my point is I went to LAB Bcuz of its prestigious name and notoriety as being the best in the world but that name is tainted and after a lot of hard work (21 months) and a debt of $41,500 is the reward I get being scoffed at bcuz I have an associate's degree that isn't worth the paper its written on.le cordon bleu has become taboo in the USA and it's graduates are getting the very shortest end of the proverbial stick
